Crane Nut Powder is a household name in South India, especially in Telugu states. Founded by Grandhi Subba Rao in Guntur in 1952, the brand has become synonymous with nut powder and is an integral part of every celebration and occasion. But why the name “Crane”?
Grandhi Subba Rao choose the name “Crane” because he felt making the finest nut powder is a meticulous process involving sourcing the best quality nuts, cutting them into perfect pieces, blending them with select spices, packaging, and eagerly waiting for the customer to buy—all requiring immense patience, precision and perfection. This process reminded him of a crane patiently waiting for its catch in the water, hence the name.
